DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
This large work (257 × 211 cm), structured like a triptych, is topped by a sloping roof resembling a small temple. Commissioned directly from Vecchietta by Pope Pius II Piccolomini, the triptych is considered the most important of the works created by the great Sienese painter and sculptor.
Inside, in the central section, is the Assumption of the Madonna.
On the left are Saints Agatha and Pius I.
On the right are Saint Callixtus and Saint Catherine of Siena.
