The Feast is a day when we celebrate the memory of St. Andrew
protector of the city. It used to be a venerated relic kept in a
reliquary Byzantine, then donated to the Patriarch of Patras in the
sixties, despite the opposition of Pienza fond of that golden
artifact donated by Pope Pius II in the Cathedral. In
exchange for this gift was sent to Pienza by Pope then another
relic contained in a silver bust of the sixteenth century,
depicting the patron saint. The cult of St. Andrea in Pienza
never came less, so November 30 is rite liturgical ceremonies and
popular celebration. In the square is celebrated to the sound of
the band and the local tourist office organizes a lunch for all
based on chestnuts and polenta. It 'a simple party but felt, where
all Pienza gladly participate.
