It was built in the second half of the XIIIth century ( on the bell the year 1292 is engraved) according to Romanesque-Gothic architectural canons, that is with a Romanesque cross plan (the classical T shape with a single nave). Inside, lies hidden a small museum made up of various XIVth and XVth century Sienese frescoes, among which one is quite remarkable ,to the point that the church is worth visiting even if only to view such artwork: it’s the colossal figure of Saint Christopher by Niccolò di Segna (XIV). Furthermore, inside the church, there was a Madonna with Child by Lorenzetti. Only the copy is now visible, since the original is housed in the Museum Diocesano in Pienza. Aside from the above mentioned fresco, by Segna, the church also hosts the following artworks: Left hand side of entrance : Saint John Evangelist and Saint Bartholomeus by a Sienese painter(XIII) Left hand side of nave: Saint Nicholas and Saint Cosma and Damien (XIV) Left hand side of nave: Madonna with Child by Sienese painter (XIV) Left hand side of nave: Madonna with Child by Niccolò di Segna (XIII) Left transept: Saint Christopher – Wooden Sculpture (XV) Left transept: Wooden Crucifix (XIII) Left hand side of Apse : The Confession ( Lorenzetti School XIII) Apse : Saint Christopher by Niccolò di Segna (XIII) Apse: Saint Leonard by Niccolò di Segna (XIII) Apse: Tabernacle – Grating by Pietro Betti (1313) Apse: Crucifix Right hand side of nave: Oath of the Vicar by a Sienese painter (XIII) Right hand side of nave: Life of Saint Catherine of Alexandria by Niccolò di Segna (XIII) Right hand side of nave: Madonna with Child and Saints (XV) Right hand side of nave: Saint Peter by Niccolò di Segna (XIII) Right hand side of nave: Holy Water Basin (XIV) Left hand side of nave: Bell (1292) Right hand side of entrance: Blessed Gherardo from Villamagna by a Sienese painter (XIII)
