The Tomb of the Taxi Lady is one of the about fifteen painted Etruscan tombs known in Chiusi. It’s located east of the town, near the catacomb of Saint Mustiola. It’s a small square room with a barrel vault, dug out of sandstone. The walls are decorated with paintings, executed directly on the stone ( not frescoed) : on the front and back wall there are two shields amid two festoons, while the lateral walls are decorated with images of the deceased with their names and with festoons . On the back wall, there was a terracotta sarcophagus, with a male figure on the lid, who held in his hand the “ roll of destiny”, preserved nowadays in the National Archeological Museum of Chiusi.
